Valentine's Day Artwork

Wow, I have been hibernating ! No posts at all for a whole month :) Anyway, we are back!

Jim Dine... such a popular artist for the month of February, in case you are not familiar with his work, google him. I did have print outs for the children to look at and they decided on their favorite style, not to copy though... never encourage that :) they had a limited palette of colors to work with and sponges instead of paintbrushes. So proud of the final results!

Here are the kiddo's own Jim Dine-style Valentine creations, enjoy !

Monet's Water Lilies

Over the course of the last few classes, the little ones got to learn about another one of the greatest artists- Claude Monet.... we looked at his work, discussed what he may have liked and how he painted and of course painted one of his very famous "Water Lilies"

Enjoy their completed works !!! (and initial picture of them at their easles just starting out)

Let's Get PAINTING :) !!!

Let's make some wearable art, something the little ones will be proud to use or gift away :)

Here is some inspiration:

We have custom made aprons ready as a blank canvas for the kids. Perhaps they would like to draw something Christmassy- Santa, trees, reindeer? or something with their name on it (I think that will be a hot favorite for sure) or whatever else they may choose.
They will have access to fabric paint in plain and glitter/ metallic colors and also fabric glue with bits and pieces they can add on for a special touch. While the paint is drying and mums are on the way back, snacks will be served to make it a real PARTY!

When: 27th December- Tuesday
Time: 4.30 pm to 6pm
Where: Studio C, Salmiya of course

Fee: KD 4.500 per child
Book your spot soon! This one is bound to be a blast!

MERRY CHRISTMAS :)

Lion Cubs and Pirates.... A nice week !

Lion cubs- starts out pretty easy, couple of circles to give it form, nice fuzzy fur all around, and then colored pencils..... and you can see the kids really made them their own :) From the skinny ones to the chubby, they come in all shapes, don't they!

The pirate story- Ahoy... now, for that the kids experimented with salt. Yes, normal, salt we use.... once dry the sea water color they sprinkled the salt on gave it real texture! They of course had to come back and check on the salt during the next class- guess the element of surprise was pretty neat.

Picasso !

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.
Pablo Picasso .. Spanish Cubist Painter (1881 - 1973)

How can we not do PICASSO :) ??!!

We had so much fun... this was a two-class project. We talked about some of Picasso' works... looked at how his style changed from the earlier realistic painting to the more fun and colorful latter ones that he indeed grew famous for.
For our project, the children created their version of the famous Dora Maar
Brilliant!
